Moustachio Swarm intaglio print

To celebrate Moustachio Madness 2010, we have one more morsel to share: Moustachio Swarm.

This is an intaglio art print using chine colle, folks, measuring 24-inch by 22-inch. We worked with highly talented people at Calladium Prints to create this extraordinary image of Moustachios in flight over a dusk landscape. Anyone from the Plain States knows what this is about.

This is an edition of 20, of which we have 5 pcs. Each is signed and numbered (and one is an AP).

What's intaglio? Check here on Wikipedia, but the short of it is:

"Intaglio is a family of printmaking techniques in which the image is incised into a surface, known as the matrix or plate ... ink is applied to the surface and then rubbed with tarlatan cloth to remove most of the excess. The final smooth wipe is often done with newspaper or old public phone book pages, leaving ink only in the incisions. A damp piece of paper is placed on top and the plate and paper are run through a printing press that, through pressure, transfers the ink from the recesses of the plate to the paper."
